The Principality of the Sun was part of the Kingdom of Atenveldt and covered the modern state of Arizona. The Principality was dissolved in July 1997 and its awards closed.

Charter
Chief award of the principality, this award has two kinds of members: Companions of the Solar Phoenix are those who have served the principality well and faithfully, above and beyond that service normally expected of the subjects of the Crown.
Commanders of the Solar Phoenix are those who have made a major continuing contribution to the Principality and have demonstrated consistent courtesy and chivalry in their behavior. Only one Commander was made during a reign.
In Anno Societatis Eleven in the Reign of Their Majesties, Darius and Samantha there was created an award known as the Order of the Solar Phoenix. On February 29 A.S. XI, Sequora of Zagamar was made premier of the order.
- There shall exist in the Principality of the Sun an award, Known as the Order of the Solar Phoenix, which may be given by the Prince and Princess, subject to the pleasure of the Crown, to those persons whom they feel served the Principality well and faithfully, above and beyond that service normally expected of the subject of the Crown.
- The holders of the award shall be styled as Companions of the Solar Phoenix and shall be entitled to place the initials C.S.P. after their names.
- The insignia of the order shall consist of a medallion, pendant from a blue ribbon, bearing, “A phoenix rising from flames”.
- Arms and Precedence: The award shall carry with it, subject to the pleasure of the crown, an Award of Arms, and companions of the order shall take precedence after armigerous kingdom orders but before baronial orders. If the award is given to a person who bears an award carrying higher precedence than given above, his/her precedence shall remain unchanged. If the award is given to a person who has previously received an Award of Arms, his/her precedence shall date from his/her election to the order.
- Amendments to this constitution shall be made by the Coronet of the Sun after due consultation with the Crown.
- The companionship of all previous recipients of this award is hereby confirmed. By our hands this 16th day of August, Anno Societatis Nineteen, being 1984 in the Common Era.

All members of this order are hereby confirmed as Companions of the Solar Phoenix, and are further confirmed with the right to fly the Ensign of the Sun from this day forward. This order is hereby closed by command of their Solar Highnesses, Drusilus and Yrsa, rightwise Prince and Princess of the Sun. Done by Our Hands this 19th day of July, Anno Societatis XXXII, being nineteen and ninety-seven in the Common Era.
