The Pilgrim of the Desert is given to people who promote historical authenticity in the recreation of the Current Middle Ages.   As the SCA is an immersive history group where we research and re-create pre-17th century activities, it is fitting that we recognize those who endeavor to create a high standard of authenticity in their dress, behavior, persona, and goods, in the feast hall, in their encampments, and on the field.

Order of Precedence

This award is non-armigerous and takes precedence over baronial armigerous awards.

Charter

In Anno Societatis Forty-four, during the Reign of Their Royal Majesties Craven III and Elzbieta III there was created an award known as the White Stirrup.

  1. There shall exist in the Kingdom of Atenveldt an award known as the White Stirrup, which may be given by the Crown to those equestrians who have given service to the equestrian arts in the Kingdom of Atenveldt.
  2. This order shall consist of three levels and the award is suspended from a colored ribbon denoting the level:
      • Azure or blue ribbon (first level)
      • Argent or silver ribbon (second level)
      • Or or gold ribbon (third level, highest)
  3. The members of this Order shall be styled as Companions of the White Stirrup and shall be entitled place the initials C.W.S. after their names.
  4. The insignia of the order, "Fieldless, A sun Or within and conjoined to a stirrup Argent".
  5. Companions of the Order shall take precedence before armigerous Baronial Awards.
  6. The Protectors of the order will be the Crown of Atenveldt.
  7. Amendments to this charter shall be made by the Crown of Atenveldt.
  8. The membership in the Order of all previous recipients of this award is hereby confirmed.
